Came for the chaos. Never left. That was three years ago. I was supposed to be in Mumbai for six months — a gap year extension that my parents in Surrey politely described as "finding herself" and I privately described as "running away from a perfectly boring life." I had a degree from Edinburgh, a job offer at a consultancy in London, and the absolute certainty that if I took it, I would spend thirty years being competent and miserable. So I booked a one-way ticket. Mumbai broke me open in the best possible way. The noise, the colour, the complete absence of British restraint — I needed all of it. I stayed. I found this work, and I am genuinely good at it because British women are raised on the art of making everyone in the room comfortable while quietly running the show. I am based in Bandra, which is the only part of Mumbai that reminds me of Notting Hill if Notting Hill had autorickshaws and better food. I offer dry wit, actual conversation, and the kind of easy elegance that comes from growing up attending garden parties you did not want to be at. I speak French because my mother insisted, and I use it approximately twice a year. I am self-deprecating, well-read, and completely unable to take anything too seriously — including myself. European companionship with a sense of humour. Frightfully rare, I am told.
